Bristol Airport is owned by Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (Teachers’).

With $140.8 billion in net assets as of December 31, 2013, Teachers’ is the largest single-profession pension plan in Canada. An independent organisation, it invests the pension fund’s assets and administers the defined benefit pensions of 307,000 active and retired teachers in Ontario. 

Teachers’ has been a shareholder since 2002 and increased its stake in Bristol Airport in 2009, before becoming sole owner in September 2014. Teachers' other investments in the UK include significant ownership interests in High Speed 1, Birmingham Airport, Scotia Gas Networks, and Acorn Care and Education, and it also has a shareholding in Brussels Airport and Copenhagen Airport.
