Bristol International is committed to working with schools and colleges in
the region to provide support to teaching staff, as well as engagement with
students, to encourage and develop business awareness and help to develop
skills required for future employment.
BIA has recently been awarded a ‘Powerful Partnership’ award from ‘Ablaze’
for our work with schools particularly in the South Bristol area. This
award was given in recognition of the contribution and support given
towards transforming education in Bristol Schools. Raising aspirations and
improving the life and employability skills of children and young people.
Some of the other initiatives undertaken by the Airport include:

Work Experience. BIA offers work experience to
pupils in specific areas of the business. Work experience is

Young Enterprise. A partnership between BIA and
Young Enterprise to provide students with the opportunity to apply their
skills to an airport based project which develops teamwork and
creativity.

School Governorships. Several members of staff are
governors at local schools.

Fire Safety Training. Members of the Rescue and
Fire Fighting Service periodically visit local schools to give students

School projects. BIA works with several schools in
the area on specific projects, some of which are conducted in partnership
with our on-site business partners.

Higher Education. BIA has worked with several
Universities to provide an insight into airport operations to aid degree
courses.
