Time to work together…..
In recent years Bristol International Airport’s staff, business partners and customers have raised in excess of £110,000 for a variety of charities, which includes the Tsusami, NSPCC (Bristol Teacher Training project), Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, Children’s Hospice South West the Babe Appeal and Children in Need.
Bristol International Airport and its staff are very keen to support local charitable causes and each year employees nominate a charity, which they electively fundraise for throughout the year. Having raised in excess of £77,000 for Children's Hospice South West since 2006, the staff have chosen to support Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal “Cots for Tots” at Bristol Children’s Hospital commencing from January 2008.
Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal is currently fundraising to provide vital equipment for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit such as cots, incubators, ventilators and to update and modernise the playroom, breast-feeding room and essential facilities provided on the Unit for parents to stay with their babies. The expansion programme will allow 100 extra babies a year to be cared for on the Unit.
St Michael’s NICU is a special place, caring for around 600 babies per year with the most complex conditions. The Unit cares for babies from Bristol, as well as the whole South West. The Unit treats more and more babies each year as modern medical research and practice now enables an increasing number of babies to survive. The ward is now growing in size to cope with the increasing demand for this specialist care. Cots for Tots will create more space to treat babies in a warm and welcoming environment with space and facilities for parents to be close by.
