wildlife & nature conservation

The development of the airport’s nature conservation management plan in 1999 has been an important factor in gaining a better understanding of the ecology of the airport and enabling delivery of local and national objectives to improve biodiversity. Bristol International Airport is located in a designated landscape improvement area and we recognise that our activities have an impact on the surrounding countryside. The work undertaken as the nature conservation management plan has included a number of habitat improvement projects such as the installation of bat boxes and slow worm hibernation sites on the southern perimeter of the site, as well as additional hedge planting and adjustments to the grass cutting policy.
