Providing delegates with the opportunity to practice in realistic training environments, fire behaviour, flashover or backdraft scenarios and where appropriate have demonstrated these via a range of training simulations.

- Understand the importance of safety and the importance of PPE
- Describe and explain the chemistry of combustion
- Understand the fundamentals of fire
- Demonstrate a practical understanding of the terms flashover, backdraft and fire gas explosion
- Confirm the theory by observing a fire growth from the early stage to the flashover period
- Be able to perform different branch techniques
- Be able to perform extinguishing techniques inside a building or compartment

Training objectives:
At the end of the course the student will be assessed and given the opportunity to demonstrate their competence by:
Understanding the role, responsibilities and functions of a firefighter faced with either a flashover or backdraft scenario and thereby explaining the fundamentals of fire behaviour and fire development. The approach to the training will enable the student to prepare fire fighting equipment and demonstrate their ability to use the equipment safely and correctly.
They will be able to compare their performance of different tactics and techniques in relation to fire spread and damage limitation and identify the importance of communication and teamwork.
