Things to do in Limoges

Limoges
  1. Stroll through the old city

Follow the cobbled streets to find Limoges porcelain sellers, chocolatiers and Limoges’ own collection of half-timbered houses.

  2. Take a tour of fine Limoges porcelain factory

Much of the city of Limoges has been built on the porcelain industry, and a visit to this working factory provides an insight into how the processes take place.

  3. Visit the Cathedrale St-Etienne

The dark granite Cathédrale St-Étienne is one of the few Gothic churches south of the Loire. The cathedral is also notable for its remarkably slender pillars and its richly decorated Renaissance rood screen.

  4. Admire paintings by Limoges-born Renoir

The Musée Municipal de l'Évêché contains some fine collections of porcelain and enamelware, including some examples that date back to the 12th century. There are also a few lesser-known works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, born in Limoges in 1841.
