Short Stay/Pick Up Charges

News Release (04/01/10)
From 5th January 2010, a new tariff structure will apply for customers using the Drop off/Pick up and Short Stay car parks at Bristol International Airport (BIA).

Parking remains free of charge for up to ten minutes in the Drop off/Pick up car park, but the existing policy prohibiting return within 15 minutes will be enforced using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.

Stays of between 10-60 minutes will cost £4. However, customers who anticipate a stay longer than 10 minutes are advised to park in the Short Stay car park, where a stay of up to 30 minutes will still be available for £2.50, and 30-60 minutes for £3.

The changes will enable BIA to continue to provide free parking for stays of up to 10 minutes and will improve accessibility by discouraging vehicles from continuously circulating in and out of the Drop off/Pick up car park, a practice which causes congestion and inconveniences other car park users.

The Drop-off/Pick up car park is situated adjacent to the terminal building and is linked to it by a covered walkway, making it ideal for vehicles dropping off or picking up passengers. Because only a limited number of spaces are available in this car park, the new tariff structure is designed to discourage longer stays, with more cost-effective alternatives located elsewhere on the airport site. Additional car parking is proposed in BIA’s planning application, currently being considered by North Somerset Council.
