Norwegian cruise
Passengers from across the South West are now able to fly via Amsterdam with KLM to connect with Hurtigruten’s daily scenic coastal voyages along one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines.

Departing from the cultural centre of Bergen, travellers can enjoy the idyllic scenery of the Norwegian fjords and Arctic coastline on voyages sailing to Kirkenes, high above the Arctic Circle. Voyage durations range from 6 to 14 days and a wide selection of excursions can be added. Prices including return flights from Bristol start from £2,107 for a 12 day Classic Round Voyage on a full board basis (based on two people sharing a twin cabin and travelling in January or February 2011). Must be booked by 30 September 2010.

Most cruises start from Bergen and flights are available from Bristol via Amsterdam to the Norwegian city three times a day, ensuring passengers arrive in plenty of time to board one of the daily voyage departures.

Shirley Knight, Bristol Airport’s Travel Trade Development Executive commented: “Cruising is a large market in the Bristol area. Travellers don’t always realise that you can fly on scheduled flights to connect with sailings. We’re pleased that Hurtigruten are selling Bristol flights as part of their cruise package as enables travellers from the South West to explore another beautiful area from their local airport”.

Lucy Hone, Hurtigruten’s regional sales manager added: “.We have started to see a great interest in our voyages for the Northern lights in the winter time and the Midnight Sun in summer time from the South West area. Our ships provide customers with a unique experience as we have daily departures from Bergen sailing up to Kirkenes on the Russian Border visiting 34 ports en route, many of which are simply too small to be visited by larger cruise ships. Guests get to experience the natural, unspoilt beauty of true Norway every day, as they only lose sight of the coastline for a couple of hours on the entire voyage. The South West is a potential growth area for Hurtigruten and we are working closely with Travel agents in the area to support them in growing their Hurtigruten business”.
