An Egyptian send-off for Bristol’s first Luxor passengers

Luxor
Passengers flying on Bristol Airport’s first flight to Luxor today may have been surprised when they were greeted in true Egyptian style at the Bristol airport check-in desks.

Staff at the south-west airport were celebrating the launch of Thomson Airways’ new winter timetable for Thomson and First Choice customers. Thanks to the airline’s decision to base a second aircraft at Bristol this winter, capacity has increased by 55%, compared to last winter, including seven new routes being introduced throughout the Winter 2010/2011 season.

The Bristol to Luxor route is a brand new route for the airport, and is now exclusively available to Thomson and First Choice customers. This is the second new Thomson Airways route to be launched at Bristol this winter, after the Gran Canaria route that departed for the first time on Monday.

Return flights to Luxor with Thomson Airways start from just £199 per person, including taxes, fuel supplements and charges, based upon a seven or 14 night return throughout November. For further information or to book visit http://www.thomson.co.uk/flights or call 0871 231 4787.

Luxor is a perfectly placed holiday destination for visiting many of Egypt’s ancient sights, thanks to its past as the city of Thebes. The modern city centre has everything a tourist expects with snazzy hotels, cocktail bars and restaurants. Visitors venturing out can look forward to exploring ancient ruins, monuments, statues and the Valley of the Kings, or to taking a calm and relaxing traditional felucca ride on the Nile.

Thomson offers seven night cruises from Luxor, staying aboard the 4T Ritz Nile, from £449 per person, based on two adults sharing on an all inclusive basis, departing from Bristol on 24 November 2010. Price includes return flights, in-resort transfers plus all taxes and surcharges. For more information, visit www.thomson.co.uk or call 0871 231 3235.

As well as the new Luxor and Gran Canaria routes, Thomson will also be introducing many more destinations from Bristol in early 2011, these include Antayla, Larnaca, Dalaman, Heraklion and Reus, as well as new Thomson Cruises from Barbados and Dominican Republic.

As the UK’s biggest leisure airline, Thomson Airways offers fantastic customer service, ensuring your holiday can begin as soon as you depart the UK. To help you relax, all our seats are allocated at check-in, meaning there is no scrum to board the aircraft, and for long haul flights we offer more legroom in economy than BA, Virgin Atlantic, bmi and Monarch.

Carl Gissing, Director of Customer Services for Thomson Airways said: “At Thomson Airways we are fully committed to our regional UK airports as we understand the importance of allowing our customers greater choice and flexibility. With over 30 new routes being introduced, those looking to escape for some winter sun this year will have more choice then ever before without the inconvenience of a long journey to the airport”.

For a full schedule of flights from your local airport, or to book, visit www.thomson.co.uk/flights or call 0871 231 4787.
