News Release (22/07/11)
Ryanair celebrated a significant landmark for links between Poland and the South West today (21 July) as the airline carried the 500,000th passenger on its Polish routes from Bristol Airport. Ryanair’s Polish destinations from Bristol include Gdansk, Poznan, Wroclaw and Rzeszow, with Katowice recommencing November 2011.
With over 10,000 Eastern European people living in the North Somerset area alone, these services enable Poles to visit friends and family members across the South West. Polish destinations are also popular with leisure travellers, with a wealth of history and a vibrant cultural scene to explore
Maria Macken, Ryanair said:
“Ryanair is delighted to celebrate its 500,000 passenger on our popular Polish flights to and from Bristol Airport. This winter we will offer passengers in the South West a choice of 5 Polish destinations including the recently announced reintroduction of the Katowice route which will commence on November 1st.”
Shaun Browne, Bristol Airport’s, Aviation Director said:
“Services to Poland go from strength to strength and we look forward to further additions to the route network which will benefit business and leisure passengers in the South West and South Wales, as well as Poles visiting the UK.
“Bristol Airport is in a unique position, as it is the only airport in the region to provide frequent services not only to Poland, but also Latvia, Lithuania and the Czech Republic”.
Bristol Airport is preparing for a busy summer with over 900,000 passengers expected to pass through the Airport during the school holiday period. Passengers are being advised to arrive two hours in advance of their departure time in order to complete essential processes such as check-in, security and boarding.
