Summer action squad helps airport get ready for holidays

Summer Action Squad
A team of volunteers from across Bristol Airport will help get the summer off to a flying start for holiday-makers tomorrow (15th July).

With schools across the South West finishing for the long summer break, the next few weeks will be amongst the busiest of the year at the Airport. Staff working in ‘back office’ roles have teamed up with their customer-facing colleagues to create a Summer Action Squad to help provide support in key areas such as check in, security and arrivals.

Alison Roberts, Head of Customer Operations at Bristol Airport, said:
“We always try to provide passengers with a great journey through the Airport, but by boosting the number of friendly faces and helping hands in the terminal and car parks we can ensure the busy summer holiday season gets off to a great start.”

Members of the Summer Action Squad will be easily identifiable in brightly coloured t-shirts with name badges, making it easy for customers with queries to approach them.

As well as providing an additional presence in the terminal and car parks, the Summer Action Squad will work with colleagues in all customer-facing areas to focus on seeking solutions to any potential problems before the influx of summer holiday-makers begins in earnest.

“We hope the Summer Action Squad initiative will have an impact beyond this launch weekend, setting standards for the passenger experience we want to provide over the weeks to come.”

With such a busy summer expected, passengers are being advised to arrive two hours in advance of their departure time in order to complete essential processes such as check-in, security and boarding.

Alison Roberts continued:

“The Airport will be very busy this summer as families look to guarantee some sunshine following the disappointment of last year’s ‘barbecue summer’. Although we will be making all efforts to provide a great start to passengers’ summer holidays, check-in, security search and boarding can take time - particularly for families and large groups.

“By allowing plenty of time for their journey to the Airport and arriving at least two hours ahead of the scheduled departure time, passengers can help us keep queues to a minimum.”
