In July this year the last passenger-carrying Dakota aircraft in the UK will operate its final passenger flight and to mark the occasion Omega Holidays will be operating two commemorative flights from Bristol International as part of a Farewell Tour.
The beautiful and iconic Dakota built in 1944 was famous throughout World War II and was instrumental in the Berlin airlift. After the war this unique airliner became the backbone of many developing airlines throughout the world, making passenger flight comfortable, and above all safe.
Despite still going strong, but sadly due to changes in European regulations, the romance of vintage Dakota flying will cease this Summer.
Enthusiasts will however be able to depart on special flights from Bristol on 25th and 26th June 2008 flying at low level over the local area and sights of interest.
