Check-In
Bristol Airport recommends passengers arrive at least two hours ahead of their scheduled time of departure to ensure all of these essential processes can be completed.
We endeavour to make your journey through the airport as quick and efficient as possible, but this may take longer when flying at the busiest time, between 06:00 and 07:30 during the summer holiday season. Bristol Airport cannot be held responsible for missed flights resulting from late arrival at the airport.
1) Ways to check-in
Online Check-In
Many of our airlines offer online check-in and bag drop facilities including easyJet and Ryanair. Passengers are advised to check the details on your flight confirmation email for how to check in. On the day of your flight simply visit the bag drop desk or head straight to security with your printed boarding card.
At the airport: Self Service Kiosk
We have a set of six self service kiosks as you enter the terminal for the following airlines; Air France, KLM, Air Southwest, and OLT.
At the airport: Check-In Desk
On arrival to the airport check the information screens for the correct check-in desk. Once you have checked in we recommend you go straight to security as most of our restaurants, bars and shops are after this point.
2) Give yourself time
Whether you have checked-in online and are just dropping bags off or are checking-in at the airport you still need plenty of time to allow for traffic, parking and getting through security. Please remember it is the passengers responsibility to arrive on time.
3) Remember every airline is different
Each airline has different processes so don’t forget to check specific information directly with them.
Things you may want to check:
- Sports equipment
- Bag weight allowance
- Priority check-ins
- Additional charges
- Pre booking a seat or sitting together

4) What about the weight & size?
- Each airline is different so again check on your booking details or on the airline website.
- We do have weigh machines for luggage on site which will tell you the exact allowance for the airline and any excess costs you may incur before you get to check-in! Simply visit one of our weighing machines in the check in area when you arrive.
- We also recommend you check in as much as you can, some airlines may charge at the gate if your bag is larger than their specifications.
5) Perfect packing tips
- Do remember your hand luggage can have no liquids, gels or pastes over 100ml so pack as much as you can into your hold luggage and check it in. For a full list of security restricted items click here.
- Put all your sharps in your hold luggage as well including pen knives and scissors. For a full list of security restricted items click here.
- Don’t carry items for other people in your suitcase.
- Don’t leave your item unattended.
