Bristol Airport recommends passengers arrive at least two hours ahead of their scheduled time of departure.
We endeavour to make your journey through the airport as quick and efficient as possible, but this may take longer when flying at the busiest time, between 06:00 and 07:30. Bristol Airport cannot be held responsible for missed flights resulting from late arrival at the airport.
1) Ways to check-in
Online check-in
Many of our airlines including, easyJet and Ryanair, offer online check-in and bag drop facilities. Passengers are advised to check their flight confirmation email for instructions on how to check in. On the day of your flight simply visit the bag drop desk or head straight to security with your printed boarding card.
At the airport: self service kiosk
We have a set of six self service kiosks located immediately in front of you as you enter the terminal. These can be used when travelling with Air France and KLM.
At the airport: check-in desk
On arrival at the airport check the information screens for the correct check-in desk. Once you have checked-in we recommend you go straight to security as most of our restaurants, bars and shops are situated after this point.

If you have checked-in online, have a printed boarding card and do not have any luggage to check-in, you can proceed straight to security.
2) Give yourself time
Whether you have checked-in online and are just dropping bags off, or are checking-in at the airport, do allow plenty of time for traffic, parking and security search. Please remember it is the passenger's responsibility to arrive on time.
3) Remember every airline is different
Each airline has different processes so don’t forget to check specific information directly with them.
Items you may wish to check:
- Sports equipment
- Bag weight allowance
- Priority check-ins
- Additional charges
- Pre-booking a seat or sitting together

4) What about the weight and size?
- Each airline is different so check your booking details or directly on the airline website.
- There are weigh machines for luggage on-site which will tell you the exact allowance for the airline and any excess costs you may incur before you get to check-in.
- We recommend you check-in as much as you can as airlines may charge at the gate if your bag is larger than their specifications allow.
5) Perfect packing tips
- Do remember your hand luggage can have no liquids, gels or pastes over 100ml. Please pack these items into your hold luggage. For a full list of security restricted items click here.
- Put all sharp items in your hold luggage, including pen knives and scissors. For a full list of security restricted items click here.
- Do not carry items for other people.
- Do not leave your bags unattended.
