Travelling with Babies and Children

Travelling with families and children
We know it’s not always easy to travel with babies, toddlers and children, so we’ve put together our top tips for a smooth journey and how to keep them entertained.

Before you travel

Parking
For the simplest, easiest, door to door service make the most of our “meet and greet” service where you can leave your car in the 'drop off' car park and have it ready and waiting for your return.

For the best value and secure onsite parking with a drop off at the terminal, pre book “Silverzone”. Our car parking team will happily help you with your luggage and push chairs.

Other pre book items include; Fast Track Security or Baby food and milk see below.

At the Airport

Security
Under current security restrictions, passengers are required to carry any liquid baby food in a small re-sealable container which they will be asked to taste before going through security.

Allow plenty of time to be processed or pre-book Fast Track Security to skip the main queue and get priority. Click here to pre book and save on the turn up rate.

Food and Drink
Our family favourite has to be Dexters restaurant available on the mezzanine after security.  They offer most dishes in child sized portions for half the price and have a range of milkshakes to keep the kids happy for hours!  Depending on the time of day, Dexters also have special offers including ‘Kids eat Free’ so it’s well worth a visit. Click here for a full menu.

Bar Zero9 after security, has a great holiday vibe and a kids menu offering a hot meal and a drink for just £3.95. Bar Zero9 also have bottle warming facilities, simply ask the staff behind the bar. Click here for a full menu.

All restaurants and cafes, including Burger King, provide high chairs.

Baby food, milk and Nappies – Pre Order service available
Superdrug, located after security, take pre-orders and requests for baby food, milk and nappies. Simply contact the Superdrug team on tel: 01275 475565 and place an order 48 hours before you fly and the team will have it bagged and waiting for you.

Where you can take your buggy
We understand that you need your child’s buggy until you board the plane, so you can take it right through security to the departure gate where airline staff will take it from you and return it to you at your destination.  Lifts are available to every floor in the main walkway, just ask a member of staff if you need help.

Baby Changing Facilities
Baby changing facilities can be found throughout the terminals, either inside or nearby the ladies toilets.

Keep them entertained
Hopefully you won’t be hanging around for too long but we have a range of books, toys and games guaranteed to distract them – or why not go up on the mezzanine and watch the planes!

We have a great range of toys and games in World Duty Free located after security.

WHSmiths Books have a great children’s range with chart books on Buy One Get One Free, and colouring packs and Top Trumps in the main store. Claire's has lots of themed books and jewellery and is great for that last fairy wand or hair band. In fact the girls will spend hours in there!

Your Flight

  • Contact your airline in advance to see what they offer onboard for children, such as sky cots, baby food, toddler meals, and children's entertainment.
  • Ask whether you can reserve seats in advance, so that you can guarantee that you are all flying together as a family. If you can, book a flight that's not likely to be full. You may get an empty seat next to you or even a free row.
  • To avoid accentuating tiredness, try and fly during reasonable daytime hours, so that your children’s daily routine isn’t disrupted too much.

If you need a hand with anything whilst at Bristol Airport please ask a member of staff, they will all be there to help you.
