Things to do in Bourgas

Sunny Beach
  1. Discover Sunny Beach, one of Bulgaria’s top beach resorts

With 6km of sands to spread out on, the beach remains surprisingly uncrowded, even in peak season. Away from the beach, hire some bikes and spend a day in the pleasantly shady and fragrant mountains behind Sunny Beach or visit ancient Nessebur at the southern end of the bay. Dating back to the 6th century, it's bursting with narrow cobblestone streets, little shops and stalls and the perfect place to sample a few of the national dishes.

  2. Explore Strandja Mountain

Beautifully situated near the Black Sea along the Bulgarian-Turkish border, the mountain boasts virgin forests, rivers with many endemic plants and fauna.

  3. Have fun at Aqua Paradise

The largest and most attractive aqua park in Bulgaria, with thrills for all the family and water slides totalling over 1,300m.

  4. Explore the Sea Garden, a beautiful park to relax in

Just a short walk from the city centre, the park is located on a hill overlooking the Black Sea and is packed with things to see and do from the casino to the zoo. An open-air theatre is home to the yearly International Folklore Festival. With a staircase leading people from the park to the sandy beaches of the Black Sea, you’re never far from the sea for a swim too.

  5. Visit the many museums to experience the history of Bulgaria

With so many museums to explore - District Museum of History with a number of items dating back to the Romans, Ethnographic Museum offering a look into the clothing, accessories, fabrics, and embroidery work from the past, Museum of Nature and Science with more than 1,300 varieties of insects, fish, reptiles, and plants, and the Art Gallery displaying many Bulgarian artists works of art.
