Levi

This winter sees Inghams, the winter sport specialists celebrate their 75th anniversary and as part of their plans to celebrate, Inghams have a number of events planned for the forthcoming season.

From Bristol Airport Inghams offer direct ski flights to Toulouse-Andorra, Salzburg and Innsbruck-Austria, Sofia-Bulgaria, Kittila-Lapland and InghamsGeneva for both Swiss and French ski resorts. So whatever level of skier you are Inghams has the destination for you direct from Bristol.

Lapland

Lapland in winter is a magical experience. A scenic winter wonderland located deep inside the Arctic Circle. Blanketed in snow from December to April, reindeer far outnumber people here, and snow-laden trees form bizarre sculptures in a vast silent landscape.

Inghams have offered holidays to Lapland since 1997 and operates a hugely successful programme which runs from the 6th of December 2009 to the 28th of February 2010. Over the last 12 years, Inghams has established a strong presence in Lapland with an extensive programme to the resorts of Levi, Yllas and Saariselka. Ideal for families with short transfer times of just 20 minutes to Levi and one hour to Yllas from the airport. The skiing is perfect for first time skiers or those looking to combine some skiing with other activities such as husky dog safaris or snowmobiling.

With a wide choice of accommodation on offer, guests can choose from a host of three and four star hotels to cosy idyllic high-quality modern log cabins with open fire places and private saunas as well as fully catered chalets, the perfect choice for a relaxing holiday.

Activities

Skiing- Lapland offers uncrowded snow-sure skiing that is perfect for families and first time skiers  with special Learn to ski or snowboard packages available in all resorts with prices starting from £165 per adult and £143 for a child and includes a 7 day lift pass, 7 days equipment hire and 5 days tuition (Saariselka).

Snowmobile safaris- experience an exhilarating 25km ride through beautiful scenery, pine forests and frozen lakes. Snowmobiles are fun and easy to ride on your own or sharing with a passenger. Children either share with an adult or are towed in a snow-covered pod behind the guide. Prices start from £78 single or £50 two sharing, child £13 ( Levi).

Reindeer safari- meet Rudolph and his friends deep in their silent forest hideaway, hear about their way of life and enjoy a romantic reindeer-led sleigh ride for one and half kilometres across the snowy landscape. Prices start from £27 per adult and £18 per child (Levi).

Husky safari-visit our enthusiastic huskies in their scenic wilderness home then let them whisk you away through the sparkling winter landscape. Enjoy a two kilometre dog-sled ride  Prices start from £35 per adult and £ £22 per child (Yllas).

In search of the Northern lights (Aurora Borealis)- considered to be one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Potentially, when skies are clear during the darkest months from December to April you might be lucky and witness the mesmerizing, swirling spontaneous light shows illuminating the night sky. Something you will never forget.

Other activities include Ice-fishing, Ice karting, Icelandic horse riding, Snowshoe walks and tobogganing.

In the resorts of Levi and Saariselka you can spend the night under the stars in a Thermal Glass igloo (book locally).

From the beginning of January you can visit the Famous Ice Hotel.
