James Power
"Hi, I’m James, and I’ve been working at Bristol Airport since April 2015 after 10 years in Retail. The airport has given me countless opportunities to develop a fulfilling career in Aviation, which has been varied and challenging. I started in the Airport Control Centre, learning the passenger journey, daily operations, and airport intricacies. After 18 months, I progressed to a Supervisory role, enhancing my people management skills and ability to influence the passenger experience. During COVID, I gained invaluable exposure to operations, dealing with incidents and making a real difference. Later, I transitioned to a Monday-Friday role in Security, pursuing a career in Aviation Security, which I’ve loved for 2.5 years. This role has opened many doors, and I’m excited about what’s next. Finding a career can be tough, but Aviation offers exciting opportunities no matter the path you choose!"
Scott Knight
“I started at Bristol Airport with a Ground Handling Partner as a Duty Manager managing the ramp and dispatch teams. After three unsuccessful attempts at getting a role within Airside Operations, I persevered and was successful in the Duty Manager role (AODM). After 6 months I was seconded to the Airside Operations Manager AOM role. Bristol Airport champions career progression and focusing on what people are passionate about. I really enjoy my new role and the opportunities it has given me.”
Emily Hobday-Moore
"I joined Bristol Airport in 2023 as a People Business Partner, having spent several years working in HR and delivering HR projects. But I'd always wanted to move into technology and project management, during my time here, I've had the opportunity to broaden my experience and transition into a completely new career as an IT Project Manager. Every day is different, and I love working with teams across the Airport to deliver technology projects that improve the experience for colleagues and passengers. I'm also working towards my APM Project Management Qualification to continue developing my skills. Being able to combine project management with my passion for aviation and travel makes the role even more rewarding."
Mandy Rowse
"I began my airport journey as a seasonal Customer Service Host in 2010, eager to immerse myself in the fast-paced environment. After that first season, I transitioned to the Control Centre, where I spent 14 dynamic years managing operations like aircraft parking, emergencies, and daily challenges. This role taught me that with a positive attitude, hard work, and teamwork, opportunities are endless. Now, in my 17th year, I’ve embraced a new challenge as a Customer Claims and Insurance Officer, exploring a different side of the industry. Supported by an incredible team, I’ve also started a leadership apprenticeship to prepare for a future management role. The airport continues to inspire me, and I’m excited to be part of its journey ahead!"
