Bristol Airport Delivers Record Funding and Supports Record Number of Community Projects in 2025
Created: 8th Jan 2026Bristol Airport has announced a record year of community grants in 2025, with the highest total amount of funding awarded and the greatest number of local projects supported since its community funding programmes began.
Through the Bristol Airport Local Community Fund, Diamond Fund and Noise Mitigation Grant Scheme, the Airport has awarded a record £349,000 to 103 community projects across North Somerset and South Bristol. This represents the largest annual investment in local initiatives in the Airport’s history and underlines its long-term commitment to delivering meaningful benefits for neighbouring communities.
In total, £104,000 was granted to support 15 local community projects through the Local Community Fund; £45,000 was granted from the Diamond Fund to support 49 projects; and £200,000 was funded from the Noise Mitigation Grant Scheme to support 39 local properties to purchase new windows and/or acoustic loft insulation. Grants ranged from £500 to £12,000 in 2025. This includes grants for a new community minibus for the village of Wrington, a window and doors renovation project at Groundwork South Goblin Combe Outdoor Learning Centre in Cleeve, a bio-diversity project for Winford Parish Council, a noise insulation project for the pavilion at the King George V playing field in Cleeve, and a pond restoration project for Winford Church of England Primary School.
The funding supports a wide range of projects designed to enhance quality of life, protect the environment and improve local amenities. Since the Local Community Fund was established in 2012, Bristol Airport has invested £1.8 million pounds into hundreds of projects that address environmental and amenity impacts associated with the Airport’s operations and growth.
From January 2026, Bristol Airport will increase the maximum grant available through the Local Community Fund from £12,000 to £15,000. The uplift is designed to help community groups deliver larger and more ambitious projects, as well as providing even greater support and encouraging more eligible organisations to come forward and apply for funding.
Tracy Comer, Community Relations Manager at Bristol Airport, said:
“We are extremely proud to have delivered our largest ever level of community funding in 2025, enabling us to support more local projects and initiatives than at any point before. These record figures reflect our long-standing commitment to working closely with our neighbours and investing in schemes that make a real difference.”
Bristol Airport is keen for as many community projects as possible to take advantage of the scheme in 2026. Any community ventures that fit the criteria of the Local Community Fund are encouraged to apply for the next wave of grants. The type of projects that would benefit include:
• Schemes which improve, enhance, protect and conserve the natural environment within the vicinity of the Airport.
• Noise mitigation for non-residential buildings. (Residential buildings can apply to the separate Noise Mitigation Scheme).
• Traffic implications associated with an increase in passengers using the Airport.
• Any other projects/schemes which can demonstrate they will help mitigate an environmental and/or amenity impact that can be attributed to the Airport expanding.
The Bristol Airport Local Community Fund has been established to invest in a range of local projects which benefit the local community and the environment. Its main purpose is to mitigate the environmental impacts of the Airport’s operations and give something back to the surrounding communities who are affected by being situated in close proximity to an airport. It reflects our aim to develop our Airport in a sustainable way, respectful of the local community and the environment. The Local Community Fund has set criteria relating to noise mitigation, transport improvements and biodiversity.

Bristol Airport Local Community Fund and Diamond Fund
The Airport Environmental and Amenity Improvement Fund (known as the Bristol Airport Local Community Fund) was set up as one of the commitments the Airport agreed to provide in connection with its planning permission for development over the next decade.
Each year, Bristol Airport contributes £100,000 to the Bristol Airport Local Community Fund and £50,000 to the newly created Diamond Fund. The Fund’s Management Committee meets on a quarterly basis and includes representatives from both the Airport, North Somerset Council and is independently chaired.
The Bristol Airport Local Community Fund was established to invest in a range of local projects which benefit the local community and the environment. Its main purpose is to mitigate the environmental impacts of the Airport’s operations and give something back to the surrounding communities who are affected by being situated in close proximity to an international airport.
