Equality, diversity and inclusion

There are over 2,500 employees working at Bristol Airport for around 50 different organisations so it cannot fail to be an exciting and dynamic environment. The nature of our industry means we are connecting people from all over the world and our workforce needs to be diverse so we can fully reflect the needs of our customers.

At Bristol Airport we believe that our employees should feel they can be 100% themselves at work which can only happen within a diverse and inclusive workplace that is safe, secure and actively supports employee well-being. All companies at Bristol Airport aim to create an inclusive workplace for everyone, regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, disability, religion and belief or non-belief in keeping with our One Team, One Family company value.

Our actions must speak for themselves, from a job applicant feeling confident of a fair and inclusive selection process, to a long serving employee having access to robust wellbeing support and inclusive company policies that don’t tolerate any form of discrimination. We want every team member to feel able to bring their whole selves to work, and to feel they make a valued contribution to our business. We call it “Doing What’s Right.”

Bristol Airport is proud to be a Disability Confident Committed employer

The Disability Confident Employer Scheme, launched in November 2016, is a nationally recognised accreditation scheme designed to help more disabled people into work. It is voluntary and has been developed with employers, disability charities and disabled people.

The scheme was created to ensure employers draw from the widest possible pool of talent. It is reported that almost 40% of disabled applicants feel insecure about being hired, as they believe employers will disregard their application based on their impairment or condition. With more than 14 million disabled people in the UK, we want to commit to support in this change.

Bristol Airport wishes to demonstrate our commitment to equality for people with different needs in the workplace, and as a Disability Committed Employer we have committed to the following:

  1. Ensuring our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible.
  2. Communicating and promoting vacancies.
  3. Offering an interview to disabled people who meet the minimum criteria for the job.
  4. Anticipating and providing reasonable adjustments as required.
  5. Supporting any existing employees who acquire a disability or long-term health condition, ensuring we support them to stay in work.
  6. At least one activity that will make a difference for disabled people.

We are proud to be part of the movement of change that encourages employers to think disability about disability, taking action to recruit, retain and develop disabled people.
